Safety Town will be held this summer after taking a year off because the school
district was renovating all the school buildings last summer. Safety Town will
be held the first week of June with a morning and afternoon session. “Last
year we did not have Safety Town due to the renovations so this year we are
going to offer it to kindergarten students this year that did not go last summer
and also to the children who will start kindergarten in the fall,” said
Community Education Director Denice Oliver. The program is a three hour a day
program for one week with two sessions. The Crookston Police Department help
with safety town, which is held in the Washington School gymnasium. The gym is
transformed into a town for the children to learn about bike and bus safety,
pedestrian safety, playground safety and all the issues dealing with safety.”
The fee for Safety Town is $20 and includes the course, snack and t-shirt.
Register by calling Washington School at 281-5078.
