LOCAL NEWS-
The Crookston Pirates Cody Weiland continued his impressive season by winning the Big Bear Invitational Wrestling Tournament at Cass Lake by thoroughly dominating all four of his matches, picking up three pins and a Tech Fall decision. The Pirate senior won his semi-final match with a pin in the second period over Tyler Bare of Aitkin. Cody, who is ranked 6th in the state Class A rankings at 138 pounds.  "In the semi's Cody scored first with the first take down, rode tough and got out of position once, but battled back and dominated the match and got the pin," said Pirate Assistant Coach Wes Hanson.  In the championship match, Cody faced the fourth ranked wrestler in Class AA at 132 pounds, Riley Drew of Hutchinson.  "Cody was focused and wrestled like it," said Coach Hanson. "He got the first takedown again and was very physical and dominated in all aspects and when he got the turn, I believe he was leading 10-1, so he was dominating early in the second period before picking up the fall. It was a very impressive win for Cody and the Pirates."
