On July 7, just after 1:00 a.m. the Crookston Police Department responded to a report of suspicious activity and possible intruder at 120 North Main St.  Upon arrival officers found a male leaving the stairwell that leads to apartments on the second level.  He was detained and later taken into custody.  Believing there was possibly one more intruder in the building officers entered the stairwell.  The confined stairwell and hallway was filled with the chemical powder of a discharged fire extinguisher.  Officers made their way to the reporting person’s apartment.  No other intruders where found, the victims were ok.  Crookston Area Ambulance was dispatched to treat the officers; Crookston Fire Department was dispatched as it was initially thought to be smoke in the hallway.  Also assisting at the scene was the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and MN State Patrol.
