Brett Lien

Crookston Pirate Boy’s Hockey player, Brett Lien, a 5’11, 180 pound senior, who has been a three year starter on defense for the Pirates. Brett has established himself as one of the top defensemen in Section 8A. He was selected the Pirate MVP for this past season by his teammates and recently played in the Great 8 Hockey Festival in Minneapolis for Section 8A/8AA. From his play this past weekend, he was selected to be a member of Team Minnesota, which features some of the top senior high school hockey players in Minnesota. He will play with the team April 18-22 near Chicago, Illinois. Almost 100% of junior hockey coaches, college coaches and pro hockey scouts will be in attendance.
Brett is an offensive type of defenseman who can control a game with his breakouts, or jumping up into the play on offense, with terrific speed and skating ability, and is at his best in the transition part of the game, going from defense to offense with relative ease. Brett was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player for the Pirates his sophomore year. He was named to the All Section 8A team this year, as well a first team Mariucci Conference player. Brett did play this past fall in the Minnesota High School Elite League and made every Select Team from Pee Wee through his sophomore year in high school.
This spring, Brett will again be a member of the Crookston Pirate boy’s tennis team. He is primarily a doubles player and has had varsity matches since his freshman year.
At Crookston High School, he is a member of the Crookston Leo Club and True Players group.
