UNITED WAY Dine Out Week is being held through November 21. Dine out at Drafts Sports Bar & Grill, Scobey’s Pub & Grub, I.C. Muggs, McDonald’s, Irishman’s Shanty, Snow Sled Inn, Hong’s Chinese Restaurant, and a portion of the sales will go to the United Way of Crookston. 

The Golden Link will have coffee & rolls today at 8:30 a.m., and “Sit, Stand, or Dance” class at 2 p.m. 

A frozen food delivery for the Crookston High School music trip students has been postponed to a later date. 

The Crookston Eagles Auxiliary is having a homemade pie sale. Pie pickup will be November 22 from 4-5 p.m. and November 23 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. & from 5-7 p.m. Pickup location to be determined. 

The Golden Link will have biscuits & gravy Monday, November 23 at 8:30 a.m., SAIL Class at 8:30 a.m., the NAAPS pickup from 9-10 a.m., and “Sit, Stand, or Dance” class at 2 p.m. 

The Red Lake Falls Food Shelf will be open Monday, November 23 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

The Crookston Lions will meet Monday, November 23 at noon via Zoom. 

There will be COVID-19 testing at the Crookston Armory Monday, November 23 & Tuesday, November 24 from 12-6 p.m. 

The Crookston Park Board will meet Monday, November 23 at 4:45 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. 

The Crookston School Board will meet Monday, November 23 at 5 p.m. in the choir/orchestra room at Crookston High School. 

The Crookston City Council will meet Monday, November 23 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The Ways & Means Committee will meet immediately following City Council. The possibility of a closed session exists with both meetings. 

The Polk County Commissioners will meet Tuesday, November 24 at 8:00 a.m. at the Polk County Government Center. 

The Golden Link will have greeting cards Tuesday, November 24 at 1 p.m., the movie “Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle” at 1 p.m., and coffee & cake for the November birthdays from 1:30-3 p.m. 

The Golden Link will have men’s cards Wednesday, November 25 at 8 a.m., SAIL Class at 8:30 a.m., comfort bears from 9-11 a.m., and the movie “Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle” at 1 p.m.

The Fisher American Legion will have burger night Wednesday, November 25. 

Due to COVID restrictions the annual Crookston’s Ecumenical Thanksgiving Dinner will be take-out meals only. The meals will include turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, and pumpkin pie. Pickup will be Thursday, November 26 from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Cathedral, 702 Summit Ave. There is no charge for the meal. Call 218-281-5727 to request the number of required meals.

Crookston City Hall will be closed Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27.  There will also be no garbage collection those days. Garbage from the Thursday and Friday routes will be collected Monday, November 30 along with the Monday route collection.

The Villa St. Vincent will have a cash and grocery drive for the month of November. The public is invited to participate as cash and non-perishable food items will be collected at the Villa’s front entrance. Not only does the mission of the Villa St. Vincent and Benedictine include compassionate and quality care, but also “attention to the underserved and creating compassionate communities.” All proceeds will be donated to the Care & Share.

RiverView Health is offering a CPR class on Thursday, December 10 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. Cost is $45 for those needing certification and for those not needing certification the class is free. Due to Covid-19, class sizes are limited, no walk-ins will be allowed and face masks are required. To register, call 218-281-9405.

A fundraising benefit will be held Saturday, January 9 from 1-7 p.m. at the Ruffed Grouse Roadhouse Bar and Grill south of Lengby for Loren Nesvold who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma. CONTINUING ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Golden Link has biscuits and gravy Mondays at 8 a.m. $2 for one biscuit with gravy, $3 for two biscuits with gravy, $1 for a plain biscuit. 

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-6:30 p.m. for 7th-8th graders, and from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 9th-12th graders. The facility is currently limited to 14 students at one time due to COVID-19. Students and parents should call ahead to check availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149. 

SUMMIT tenant families and friends dropping off groceries and other items. PLEASE use the South Villa MAIN Door during business hours. If you need to make other arrangements, please call 218-281-3424.

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19, and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Hugo’s Family Marketplace is offering shopping for seniors and people with illnesses from 6-7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8-9 a.m. Saturdays, and Sundays during the COVID-19 pandemic.
