The Crookston School District will have no school now until January 2 for Christmas break.

RiverView Health in Crookston will offer vaccination clinics today for COVID-19 and influenza. from 9 am to 3 pm a vaccination clinic will be offered for people 18 and older. And from 3 to 4:30 pm, a Pfizer Vaccination Clinic will be held for children ages 5-11 as well as an influenza vaccination clinic. A COVID vaccination and an influenza vaccination can be done at the same appointment. Walk-ins will not be accepted. To make an appointment, call 281.9595. 

Tri-Valley Transportation Programs will be closed Friday, December 31, and Saturday, January 1 in observance of the New Year holiday. Transit locations include Crookston. The Crookston Home Delivered Meals will be delivered by the Crookston Lions this week.

The Crookston Eagles will have bingo tonight at 6:30 p.m. The kitchen will serve food.

The Golden Link will be closed the rest of the week in observance of the New Year holiday.

The Longtin Agency will be closed on Friday, December 31, in observance of the New Year holiday.

The Polk County Transfer Station will be closed on Friday, December 31 for New Year’s Eve.

The Crookston Public Library will close on Friday, December 31, at 5:00 p.m., in observance of the New Year Holiday. They will also be closed all day Saturday, January 1.

Crookston City Hall will be closed on Friday, December 31, in Observance of the New Year holiday. The garbage collection for that day will be collected on Monday, January 3.

The Crookston Blue Line Club and Crookston Eagles will be hosting a Happy New Year 2022 Bash at the Crookston Eagles Club on Friday, December 31, at the Crookston Eagles Club. There will be social at 5:00 p.m., Dinner at 6:00 p.m. and the Band “Four Wheel Drive” will perform live at 9:00 p.m. There will also be a Silent Auction, Raffles, Games, and Drawings. Dinner tickets are $30 each or $50 per couple, and can be purchased at the Crookston Eagles Club or Blue Line Club Office. Tickets are limited. All proceeds will go towards Crookston Youth Hockey. Most Grand Forks city offices will be closed Friday, December 31, 2021, in observance of the New Year’s Holiday. Emergency police, fire and communications services will continue to operate as scheduled. City services such as garbage collection will not take place on Friday, December 31st. City offices will re-open for business on Monday, January 3rd.

The Crookston Eagles will be closed on Saturday, January 1, in observance of the New Year Holiday.

The Crookston Public Library will be hosting an event “Tax Talk” with H&R Block on Wednesday, January 5, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. A representative from H&R Block of Crookston will lead the workshop and go over new tax information for 2021. It is an informational workshop open to anyone.

The Fertile Public Library will have a story time for preschoolers and caregivers Friday, January 7, at 10:30 a.m.

The Crookston Driftbusters Snowmobile Club will be hosting a Snowmobile Safety Training field day  for students ages 12 and older on Saturday, January 8, 2022. The first step is to complete the online portion of the class by going to www.snowmobilecourse.com. The field day will begin at 8:00 a.m. at the Crookston Sports Center. The Crookston Public Library will be hosting an event “Sip & Paint” on Wednesday, February 23, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Crookston Library. The event will be hosted by librarian Jane Berg. Adults are invited to learn how to paint their own masterpiece while enjoying wine provided by Irishman’s Shanty. Due to limited space and materials, please register for the event by calling the library at 218-281-4522 by February 18.

CONTINUING ANNOUNCEMENTS

RiverView Health is holding virtual, monthly Type 2 Diabetes Support Group meetings the third Wednesday of every month from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. Altru Clinic in Crookston has the flu vaccine available.  The Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommends all persons six months and older to receive the flu vaccine.  Call 218.281.9100 to schedule your flu shot today. 

Studio 110 in Downtown Crookston will have Open Studio Hours every Tuesday & Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Cost to attend is free, for more information you can call 218-277-8774.

The Crookston Public Library’s Books & Brews Book Club meet the fourth Tuesday of every other month at 6:30 p.m. at Drafts Sports Bar and Grill. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages. Appetizers are provided by the Friends of the Crookston Public Library; participants are responsible for the cost of their own food and drinks. All are welcome. 

The Crookston Public Library’s Reading by the Red Book Club meet the fourth Tuesday of every month at the library at 6:30 p.m. They will discuss books and enjoy beverages.

The Golden Link is serving noon lunch Monday through Friday and Thursday evening dinner. The cost is $6. Veterans’ meals are half price on the first Monday of the month. Call 281-3072 by 10:00 the day you plan to have lunch. 

The Crookston Friends of the Library meet on the third Monday of each month at 7 p.m.

The Crookston Library Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston is open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents should call ahead to check the availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149. 

Polk County Public Health is available to answer questions about COVID 19 and help obtain essential services such as groceries, medications, and other daily items at 281-3385.  The phone is staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
