RiverView Health is offering a CPR class tonight from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. Cost is $50 for those needing certification and for those not needing certification the class is free. Due to Covid-19, class sizes are limited, no walk-ins will be allowed and face masks are required. To register, call 218-281-9405. 

The Crookston Eagles will have bar bingo tonight at 6:30 p.m. The kitchen will be serving food. 

Safety Town Registration is open until Friday, April 9 for children who will complete kindergarten in the spring of 2021. Participants must pre-register for the program and it is limited to 32 participants this year. The program runs Monday, June 7 to Thursday, June 10. The Crookston FFA is collecting donations for hygiene products and fresh food for the Care and Share. Boxes will be available Friday, April 9 at Wonderful Life Foods, Real Good Bath and Body, Synergy, and Heroes Rise Coffee and will be picked up the morning of April 21. 

The Crookston Youth Basketball Association Tournament is Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10. 

The Crookston Eagles will have bar bingo Friday, April 9 at 6:30 p.m. The kitchen will be serving food.

Crookston Public Schools Early Childhood Screening for children  who are 3 years old by January 1, 2021 or 4 and 5 year olds who have not been screened will be held on  April 12, 13 and 15 at Washington Elementary School, 724 University Avenue. Spring Soccer Registration is now open. Spring Soccer will be held Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Carmen Fields from May 4-May 27. Pre-K through Grade 2 will meet from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Grades 3-6 will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Registration is $20 and includes a soccer ball, t-shirt, and MYSA insurance. The Crookston Kiwanis are holding a pull-up drive accepting pull-ups of all sizes during April to help the kids of Crookston. Please drop off pull-ups, training pants, or cash to: Longtin Agency, 202 S Main Street, Crookston from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Thursday, April 15 is “Purple UP for Military Kids.” The American Legion Auxiliary Nels T Wold Unit 20 in Crookston is asking the Crookston community to wear purple in support of military kids on Thursday, April 15, especially those that have just had parents deploy for a year this past month. If you know a family that was directly affected by the deployment this would be a good day to touch base and see how they are doing.

The Crookston High School Senior Citizen Brunch will be Thursday, April 15 at 8:30 a.m. The Leo Club Senior members will have golf carts to pick up senior citizens that need a ride from the parking lot.  They will start serving breakfast at 8:30a.m. in the commons.  At 9:15a.m.- will be excused to go to the auditorium to watch the 3-Act play ” A Simpler Time”. 

Applications for the RiverView Foundation’s Bishop Afonya, Lentertz Family, June Shaver, Richard Maves, and Lynette Joseph Healthcare Scholarships are due by noon Thursday, April 15. 

The Crookston High School Spring Play – A Simpler Time – will be held April 16-18 with showtimes at 7:30 p.m. in the CHS Auditorium. Tickets will be $8 for adults and $5 for students.

Spring Clean-up Week in Crookston will be April 26-30. Clean up items will be picked up only on your regular garbage day and must be on the boulevard, compost material does not need to be in compost bags this week only. Items should be separated into garbage; clothing; cardboard; appliances; branches and yard waste; furniture; metal items; demolition; and tires. Polk County Public Health advises not to bring furniture, mattresses, box springs or bed frames found on the street into your house to prevent the spread of bed bugs. Due to state law, all video display devices – TVs, computer monitors, etc. – can’t be landfilled and will not be collected. They may be disposed of free of charge at the Polk County Transfer Station.  Items may NOT be placed on the boulevard more than 72 hours prior to your collection day. 

Thee Crookston High School Triple A senior recognition will be held Monday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the CHS Auditorium. Senior lineup will be at 6:30 p.m. The Triple A recognition is sponsored by the Pirate Boosters, Crookston Rotary, Crookston Kiwanis, Crookston Lions, and Pirate Fine Arts Boosters.

The Crookston Library Board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 5:15. 

The Cove Youth Center in Crookston will be open Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30-6:30 p.m. for 7th-8th graders, and from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for 9th-12th graders. The facility is currently limited to 14 students at one time due to COVID-19. Students and parents should call ahead to check availability of the youth center at 218-470-0149.

Hugo’s Family Marketplace is offering shopping for seniors and people with illnesses from 6-7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday, and 8-9 a.m. Saturdays, and Sundays during the COVID-19 pandemic.
