The #7 ranked Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team, showed why they are ranked as they shutout Detroit Lakes and Wadena-Deer Creek in a triangular in Detroit Lakes. The Pirates beat Detroit Lakes 7-0 and then defeated a Section 8A opponent, Wadena-Deer Creek 6-1.
CROOKSTON VS DETROIT LAKES –
The Pirates had little trouble with Detroit Lakes, winning each match for a 7-0 victory. Crookston even took each position in straight sets and avoided any tiebreakers.
In singles, Halle Winjum got the win at #1 with a solid 6-1, 6-1 effort. Brekken Tull was playing in the #2 singles slot and had a little bit more pushback winning the first set 7-5 before cruising in the second set 6-1. Abby Borowicz also had little trouble in her match at #3 singles winning 6-1, 6-0, and Paige Abrahamson picked up the win at #4 singles 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, the duo of Kaylie Clauson and Halle Bruggeman won in the first doubles position 6-1, 6-3. The closest match between the two teams was at the #2 doubles spot, but the Pirates duo of Isabelle Smith and Emma Gunderson would pull out the win 6-3, 6-4. Completing the sweep for Crookston in the #3 doubles slot were Addie Fee and Jenna Seaver, with a strong showing themselves 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets.

CROOKSTON VS WADENA-DEER CREEK –
Crookston continued its domination in the second match as they defeated Wadena-Deer Creek 6-1. The Pirates only loss came at #2 doubles.
In singles, Halle Winjum cruised to a 6-0, 6-3 victory. Abbie Borowicz played second singles and won a tight first set 6-4 before winning the second set 6-2. The closest match of the dual came at third singles when Addie Fee won the first set 6-3 before outlasting her opponent in the second set with a 7-5 win. The singles sweep was completed by Paige Abrahamson, who continues to pick up the wins with a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 victory.
On the doubles side, the only Pirate loss came at first doubles where Crookston lost 6-4, 6-0.
The second doubles team of Isabelle Smith and Emma Gunderson coasted to a 6-0, 6-1 victory and wrapping up with a win was the third doubles team of Brekken Tull and Jenna Seaver with a 6-3, 6-0 victory.
Crookston will continue their road trip with three matches starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Alexandria. Crookston will play Osakis, Alexandria, and Detroit Lakes.
