RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director for Residential Education, the Area Coordinator (AC) contributes to creating a vibrant campus community characterized by a strong commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging for students with diverse identities with special focus to students in UMC’s residence hall facilities. The AC is a full time (9-month), entry-level professional required to live in an assigned on-campus apartment and serve in the on-call rotation with other department staff. Student/Community Development (75%)

  • Work with department staff and students to create and maintain a living and learning environment that supports the mission of the University of Minnesota Crookston Office of Residential Life.
  • Actively assist in the development and implementation of an intentional community development model that includes an emphasis on diverse, equitable, and inclusive community programming and support.
  • Establish an academic focused environment by creating campus partnerships, implementing initiatives, and providing tools to Community Advisors that supports student academic success.
  • Serve as a conduct hearing officer utilizing a restorative justice approach to sanctioning.
  • Assist in student leadership development. Be active and visible in support of student initiatives. Examples include collaboration with Multicultural Affairs, advising one of our identity-based organizations, etc.
  • Develop working knowledge of campus and community resources. Serve as an educator and general resource in a compassionate manner when intervening with students regarding a variety of issues including: college transition, academic and personal experiences, roommate conflicts/challenges, intimate partner/sexual violence, and mental health crises.

The Polk County Attorney’s Office located in Crookston, Minnesota, is seeking applications for the position of a full-time Assistant County Attorney to represent the State of Minnesota and Polk County in criminal and civil proceedings.

This is a challenging and rewarding position with primary responsibilities including prosecuting felony, gross misdemeanor, and misdemeanor cases, handling child delinquency and CHIPS proceedings, representing the county in other court and administrative proceedings, and providing legal advice to county departments. The emphasis of this position will be criminal prosecution, with the successful candidate’s duties mainly encompassing representation of the State of Minnesota in criminal proceedings is district court. The caseload will involve extensive court hearings and appearances, as well as jury and court trials, with an emphasis placed on courtroom skills, legal research, and legal writing abilities.

The hourly salary range for this position for 2022 is $38.95 – $49.51, depending upon experience and qualifications, with annual step increases. The position also includes a highly competitive benefits package. This benefits package includes a monthly $1,200 cafeteria plan contribution by the County; healthcare plans through BCBS with various deductibles and very attractive, low-cost premiums regardless of the number of dependents; dental, vision, life, long-term and short-term disability coverage; flexible spending accounts; PERA retirement with contributions made by the County; 10 paid holidays each year; paid vacation and sick leave; and access to other health and wellness programs.
