MOORHEAD MAN LEADS LAW ENFORCEMENT ON MULTI COUNTY CHASE ENDING IN GRAND FORKS

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint in the city of Nielsville of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee all over the road at 3:45 p.m. Monday, May 11. A deputy located the vehicle north of Climax on Highway 75 and pulled the vehicle over. The driver, later identified as Nicholas Kenneth Wessels (34) from Moorhead, had a Felony warrant out of Minnesota.
There were three other occupants in the vehicle. When other units arrived to assist, Nicholas took off in the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Deputies then initiated a pursuit. The pursuit by Polk County deputies continued on the west end of Polk County, into Traill County in North Dakota and then into Grand Forks County. The pursuit was terminated when the Jeep Grand Cherokee entered the City of Grand Forks. The vehicle was located in Grand Forks unoccupied. Nicholas was later located in Grand Forks by the Grand Forks Police Department and was arrested.
