#6 RANKED DULUTH PULLS AWAY FOR A WIN OVER UMC WOMEN’S HOOPS

The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball team’s shooting woes returned on Friday as they only made 15 of 56 shots (27 percent) in a 67-45 loss to the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in a Northern Sun Conference game played in Crookston.

FIRST QUARTER
UMC took a 3-2 lead after a Mary Burke (Soph. Virginia) a little over a minute into the game.  The next two minutes was back-and-forth and Duluth had a 9-8 lead with 6:09 left in the quarter.  Duluth dominated the final six minutes of the quarter and ended on a 12-4 run for a 21-12 lead at the end of the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER
Duluth scored the first points of the second quarter and held a double-digit lead for the next six minutes of the quarter until Kylie Post (Jr. Corcoran) made two free throws to get UMC within a 33-24 deficit with 3:39 left in the half. Duluth responded with a 7-0 to end the half and took a 40-24 lead into halftime.

THIRD QUARTER
Duluth only scored four points in the second half and still had a 44-34 lead as UMC only outscored the Bulldogs 10-4 and trailed 44-34 going into the fourth quarter.

FOURTH QUARTER
Duluth flexed their muscles a bit in the fourth quarter and outscored UMC 23-12 to pull away for a 67-45 victory.

UMC drops to 3-6 in the NSIC North and 3-8 overall.  UMD improves to 6-0 in the NSIC North and 6-0 overall.  The teams will wrap up the weekend series at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
