UMC WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO BEMIDJI STATE TO END SEASON

The Bemidji State Beavers used a strong fourth quarter to beat the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball team 79-65 in a Northern Sun Conference matchup in Crookston.

UMC took a 7-4 lead before Bemidji State’s Sydney Zerr made back-to-back three-pointers to spark a 14-2 run for an 18-9 with 3:23 left in the quarter. BSU took a 24-18 lead into the second quarter.
Bemidji State went on a 7-0 run to start the second and a little bit later they went on an 11-2 run to build a 42-26 lead with 1:19 left in the half. UMC scored the last four points of the half, but Bemidji State took a 42-30 lead into halftime after shooting 52 percent.

UMC picked up their play in the third quarter and outscored Bemidji State 24-17 to get within a 59-54 deficit going into the fourth quarter.
Bemidji State started the fourth quarter on an 11-3 run to build a 70-57 lead. The teams played even the rest of the way and Bemidji State held on for a 79-65 victory.

UMC ends the season with a 3-13 record overall and a 3-11 record in the NSIC North. Bemidji State improves to 9-5 overall and 8-4 in the NSIC and will play in the Northern Sun Conference tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota next week.
