Jewel Keith Strande – Obit

Jewel Keith Strande, age 64, of Crookston, MN, passed away on Monday, March 1, 2021, at his home with his family by his side.

Jewel was born on March 29, 1956, in Fosston, MN, the son of the late Gilbert and Delores (Vraa) Strande.  He attended Erskine High School and later obtained his GED.  In 1979 he started working for Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 2016 as a Bridge Inspector.  He married Debbie (Smith) Bendickson on April 29, 1989, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston.  Jewel was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Crookston Eagles Club, and Crookston Classic Cruisers.  In his free time, he enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping, classic cars, traveling all over the US, and especially watching his grandchildren’s activities and spending time with his family.

Jewel is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Ashley and David Rye of Buxton, ND, and Stacey and Chris Bruggeman of Crookston; grandchildren, Teegan, Blair, Bexley, Holland, Carter, Halle, and Madilyn; Debbie Strande of Crookston; and siblings and their spouses, Pat and Tom Brenk of Lutz, FL, Peggy and DJ Johnson of Crookston, Pam Simmons of Mahnomen, MN, and Vi and Wally Abel of Andover, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Albert Strande.

A funeral service celebrating Jewel’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN, with a time of visitation one hour before.  Reverend Gregory Isaacson will officiate.  Burial will immediately follow at Elim Cemetery in Winger, MN.  Due to COVID precautions, masks and social distancing are required.
