The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Golf team shot 410 and finished second place, 28 strokes behind the East Grand Forks Green Wave at the Thief River Falls Invitational at the Thief River Falls Golf Club.
Crookston had two top-five individual performances with Joslynn Leach leading the way with a 92, good for second place individually. “Joslynn had a couple of lip outs and some trouble in the sand,” said Pirate Coach Jeff Perreault. “She could have been in the 80’s, but overall it was a decent round.”
Hannah Brouse shot a 97, which was good for fifth place individually. “Hannah broke 100 for the first time in a varsity meet today,” said Coach Perreault. “We kind of expect that from her and doing it today was great to see.”
Grace Fischer shot her best varsity round of 107. “She had a couple of blow up holes with a 10 and a couple of eights,” said Coach Perreault. “So to shoot what she shot having those blow-up holes, she shot pretty darn well. It was a good day for her.”
Coach Perreault was happy to see some of the seventh graders turn in solid scores with Ava Martin shooting a 115 and Halle Nicholas a 118. “I thought they did a nice job,” said Coach Perreault. “It is nice to see those two turn in solid scores.”
Samantha Rezac shot a solid 116. “She shot right where we would like to see her,” said Coach Perreault. “It was a good round for her and nice to see.”
“We golfed okay. We had some girls golf where we expected them to play and some girls were not where we expected them, but overall we saw some good things today,” said Coach Perreault. “It was nice to get 12 girls out on the course as we try to figure out our lineup for the postseason.”
Crookston will travel to the Fosston Invitational at the Bemidji Town and Country Club on Wednesday.
