FORMER UMC BASEBALL PLAYER MAKES ALL STAR GAME

Former University of Minnesota Crookston baseball pitcher Matt Dallas (Boise, Idaho), who pitched for the Golden Eagles during the 2016 and 2017 seasons, has been named an All-Star in the United Shore Professional Baseball League. Dallas is in his first season playing for the Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers. He has posted a 0-0 mark with a 3.50 earned runs average (ERA) in 18.0 innings pitched. He has made 11 appearances with 15 strikeouts on the season.

Dallas has played for two professional organizations since finishing up at Minnesota Crookston. Dallas pitched in three games for the River City Rascals of the Frontier League in 2017. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in sport and recreation management in the fall of 2017. Dallas was 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 10.0 innings pitched as a senior for Minnesota Crookston in 2017.

The USPBL is an independent professional baseball league with four teams located in the suburban Detroit, Mich., area. All teams play their games at Jimmy John’s Field in Utica, Mich. The league started in May of 2016 and is aimed at 18-25 year-olds who went undrafted out of high school or college. The USPBL helps develop players seeking an opportunity in a minor league system for a Major League Baseball organization. The league has sent on 20 players to minor league systems in three seasons of existence.
