ANNIE FITZGERALD TO PERFORM ON FRIDAY AT UMC’S KIEHLE AUDITORIUM

Crookston singer-songwriter Annie Fitzgerald along with special guests, the Home Fires, will perform on Friday, February 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Kiehle Auditorium on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus. The doors will open at 7:00 p.m. and advanced tickets are $12. Tickets the day of the show are $15. Fitzgerald said that all the artists playing Friday night are singer-songwriters. “It is all original music and I will be telling the stories behind the songs because I think that helps them connect a little bit more,” said Fitzgerald. “I am very much in the singer-songwriter genre, but folk, pop, Americana will be there.”

Fitzgerald’s music has been described as a blend of Tori Amos intellectual appeal, Sarah McLachlan’s mystical charm and Edie Brickell’s baroque spirit (Jamsphere). Honored by the Songwriters Hall of Fame as an artist to watch, Fitzgerald released her second album “You & Me & the Sun” to wide acclaim in June of 2018. Produced by Danny OBrien (The Farewell Circuit, Dem Yuut), the album finds Fitzgerald joining gifted musicians and shaping a textured pop sound mixed with the raw vitality of rock-and-roll. Since her first release In Good Time, Fitzgerald spent time a part of the New York City Indie scene, started a family and welcomed a move back to her home state of Minnesota and a newfound sense of space to create. “You & Me & the Sun” explores connection, vulnerability, love, and sparks in the span of time navigating the balance between motherhood & her life as a songwriter. The Home Fires is an Americana duo based in Minneapolis comprised of critically acclaimed singer/songwriters, Sarah Morris, and Vicky Emerson. Sarah and Vicky are established touring artists and after developing a close friendship and playing live shows together, they unearthed a gorgeous new sound featuring Sarah’s clear, melodic voice and Vicky’s warm, weathered harmony.
