Kari Anne Demarais – Obit

Kari Anne Demarais, 41, of Crookston, MN, passed away Monday March 21, 2022, at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND with her loving husband, Wade, by her side.  She had been fighting a courageous battle against cancer.

Kari was born on June 17, 1980 and was blessed to be the adopted daughter of parents, Gordy and Mary (Mercil) Tiedeman, growing up in her loving home together with adopted brother, Chris. Kari was a 1998 graduate of Crookston Central High School. She went on to earn her degree as an RN from Northland Community and Technical College in 2013.  Kari began her career as a Mental Health Nurse caring for patients in the Altru Health System. For the past four years she had been working with the amazing team at Northwest Mental Health, now known as Alluma.  Kari devoted her nursing career to some amazing people who were working through their mental illness.  She lived her entire life as a caregiver, loving and supporting other people, whether ‘on the clock’ or not.

On November 25, 2005 Kari was united in holy matrimony to Wade Demarais at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. While making their home in Crookston their union would be made complete by the births of three truly amazing kids: Jackson (17), Cody (13) and Peyton (12).  As a family they would spend countless hours together at the hockey arena in the winter, and as much time as possible in the summer with friends and family at the baseball field, golf course, and lake.

Kari is survived by her loving family including husband, Wade; their three precious children: Jackson, Cody and Peyton; her father, Gordon Tiedeman of Walker. MN; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Angel Tiedeman of Blaine, MN; parents-in-law, Vern and Marlys Demarais of Crookston; together with aunts, uncles, nieces, nehews, cousins, loving in-laws, and many friends.

Kari was preceded in death by her mother, Mary (Mercil) Tiedeman; sister-in-law, Sara Banks Tiedeman; aunt, Michel Tiedeman; and her Mercil and Tiedeman grandparents. May God richly bless the memory of Kari Anne (Tiedeman) Demarais.

Kari’s life will be celebrated at a Memorial Service held in her honor at 11am, Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN with Pastor Jeff Brown, officiating.   Visitation will be at the church for one hour prior to the funeral. The service will be livestreamed by going to Kari’s obituary page at www.stenshoelhouske.com and clicking on the prompt to view. Inurnment will take place in the Calvary Cemetery, Crookston, in the spring.  In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are preferred.
