Crookston Library to close for a day for upgrades

The Crookston Public Library will be closed Tuesday, July 31 because they will be replacing the carpet in the main entrance area.  Crookston Library Director, Chris Boike, said they will close for one day. “We are really coming along with the carpet tile project.  We have been very strategic in planning where we would replace the carpet and when and it was decided mid-last week that we would need to close for a day to do the entrance,” said Boike. “We have tile right when you come in, where the carpet and tile meet, we will be replacing those squares.  There is a process involved where they have to put the glue down and let it dry so long and commence with carpeting.  In order for us to do that, we will need to close for the day on Tuesday.”
The remodeling project has gone well, and the work is noticeable. “It has gone well.  There are always a few little things we needed to change.  The lighting is done and is very nice, the carpet is coming along nicely,” said Boike. “We have our second public restroom that has been demoed and we are waiting for that to be finished.  I think people are going to be happy with the final result.”

The Crookston Library will have their final kids Summer Library Experience event at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. “Lisa Green, a meteorologist at KVLY coming and we will have a prize give away,” said Boike. “We are hoping as many people as possible will come out for the finale.” Danielle Spiten of the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center will bring animals for the kids to see, and the library will also have prize drawings and book giveaways will thanks to the sponsorship of the Crookston Alliance for Literacy and Learning, the United Way of Crookston, the Friends of the Crookston Library and Hardware Hank of Crookston.
