OX CART DAYS TO BE BIGGER THAN EVER IN 2018

The Ox Cart Days Festival is two weeks away and with 85 events and activities scheduled, there will be something for everyone.  The Ox Cart Days Committee Chairperson, Nell DeBoer said this will be the biggest festival the town has seen with events starting on Tuesday and running through Sunday evening.  There will be over 15 new events/activities this year. “There is so much going on this year,” said Deboer. “There are so many events I have to look at the pocket schedule, which you can get anywhere Ox Cart Days Buttons are sold.”  The new events are listed below-

Tuesday, August 14
-Hugo’s Ox Cart Days Cookout (at Hugo’s) from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.
-Hugo’s Supermarket Sweep Contest at 7:00 p.m. at Hugo’s
“We’re not sure on the menu on the cookout, but I’m sure it will be burgers with a soda and chips for $5,” said DeBoer. “There will be two lucky button numbers picked pretty soon and they will be in the Supermarket Sweep.  They will have a time limit to get $300 worth of specific groceries that Hugo’s selects and whoever gets closest to $300 without going over will be the winner of a cart of groceries.”

Wednesday, August 15
-Drafts Vikings Trivia at Draft’s Sports Bar and Grill from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. (must have a button to participate)
-DeBoer Builders Karaoke at Draft’s Sports Bar and Grill from 8:00 p.m. to Midnight (must have a button to participate)
“We have two tickets to a Vikings game to give away at the trivia and we have a Chuck Foreman jersey to give away and we will have an honorary Vikings cheerleader in attendance,” said DeBoer. “We will have Miss Tootsie 2017 at karaoke so that will be a lot of fun.”

Thursday, August 16
-$1 matinee movie at the Grand Theater at 1:00 p.m.
-Mega Jump BMX Stunt Show at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Ash Street
-Comedy Night at the Crookston Inn with Spencer Dobson at 9:00 p.m.
“We’re not having the bed races this year, instead we will have the BMX stunt show and that is going to be super fun and that will be a half hour show (each show),” said DeBoer.

Friday, August 17
-Walking Magic Show by Brady Grove at the Downtown Square
-Teen Dance (ages 13-18) at the Downtown Square – Admission $10
“If you missed Brady Grove at the Crookston’s Marketplace, he was great, we loved him,” said DeBoer. “The Teen Dance is back again this year and it is a fundraiser for the Crookston Wrestling club and the cost is $10.”

Saturday, August 18
-Warrior Bounce competition (ages 13-18) at the Downtown Square from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m.
-Foot Dart competition at the Downtown Square from 8:00 to 10:30 a.m.
-Video games on the big screen at the Grand Theatre at 10:00 a.m.
-Bloody Mary Bar at the Crookston Sports Center (coincides with adult dodge ball) at 10:00 a.m.
-Free pony rides at the Downtown Square from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm.
-Sun Country and You Therapy Animals at the Care and Share green space from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
-Junk FM Street Dance at Ash Street/Downtown Square from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
-Glow Party/Photo Booth during the Street Dance
“RBJ’s will be bringing breakfast down for the Warrior Bounce competition and Foot Dart competition,” said DeBoer. “We are actually going to have kind of a kids corner on the Care and Share green space area so that will be fun.  Those are the new events and with 85 events make sure to get your $5 buttons and take in all the fun.”
