SPORTS FEEVER by Chris Fee of KROX Radio – chrisjfee@yahoo.com
A big congratulations to the Fosston Greyhound Baseball team on winning its first state title. From the information I can find, it is the first Section 8A baseball champion since Crookston in 1995. (If I am wrong, let me know at chrisjfee@yahoo.com).
Fosston was getting solid pitching performances and outstanding hitting, as they were absolutely crushing the ball throughout the playoffs.
It was an impressive site, and they won the State Championship by beating Lyle-Pacelli 3-2 with bases loaded in the seventh inning. Fosston found a way to win, and I always say you need seniors to win, especially in boys sports, and Fosston had 8 starters in the lineup that were seniors!!!
Congratulations to Coach Ryan Hanlon and the Fosston Greyhound baseball players. You deserve it and represented NW Minnesota perfectly. Hopefully, this well help next year’s section champ get a solid seed too!

It is pretty cool to see two area kids and former UMC Golden Eagle Baseball players playing for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks this summer. Jake Dykhoff (Wadena) and Connor Richardson (Grand Forks) are both playing pro ball this summer after an outstanding year for the Golden Eagles.
Dykhoff is 1-2 on the year in six games. He has an ERA of 5.28 in 30.2 innings pitched. He has 30 strikeouts and 16 walks.
Richardson is 0-0 while pitching in nine games. He has an ERA of 4.35 in 10.1 innings pitched. He has one save while striking out eight and walking five.
I have had people ask about former UMC Baseball player Zach Seipel. He was with the Atlanta Braves minor league organization in 2018, 2019, and 2021. He was let go and hasn’t played since 2021.

PJ Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gopher Football team seem to be having a lot of success in the recruiting world. According to the “experts,” the Gophers now have a top-10 recruiting class!!! The top 10 honor came after a couple of commitments were announced this past weekend, including stealing the top Wisconsin high school recruit, Nathan Roy. Let’s hope this means a great season and great season(s) are coming up for Gopher football!

JOKES
Two men were shipwrecked near an island. When they landed ashore, one of them began screaming and yelling, We’re going to die! We’re going to die! There’s no food! No water! We’re going to die!
The second man leaned calmly against a palm tree. When the first man saw how calm his friend was, he went crazy and shouted, Don’t you understand?! We’re going to die!!
Undisturbed, the second man replied, You don’t understand, I make $100,000 a week.
Dumbfounded, the first man looked at him and asked, What difference does that make?!? We’re on an island with no food and no water! We’re going to DIE!!!
The second man answered, You just don’t get it. I make $100,000 a week, and I tithe ten percent on that $100,000 a week. Wherever I am, my pastor will be sure to find me!

A man escapes from a prison where he had been kept for 15 years. As he runs away, he finds a house and breaks into it, looking for money and guns, but only finds a young couple in bed.
He orders the guy out of bed and ties him up in a chair. While tying the girl up to the bed, he gets on top of her, kisses her on the neck, then gets up, and goes to the bathroom.
While he’s in there, the husband tells his wife, Listen, this guy is an escaped prisoner, look at his clothes! He probably spent lots of time in jail and hasn’t seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don’t resist, don’t complain, just do what he tells you, just give him satisfaction. This guy must be dangerous, if he gets angry, he’ll kill us. Be strong, honey. I love you.
To which the wife responds, he was not kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me he was gay, thought you were cute, and asked if we kept any Vaseline in the bathroom. Be strong, honey, I love you, too.
