SPORTS FEEVER – July 20, 2023

SPORTS FEEVER by Chris Fee of KROX Radio – chrisjfee@yahoo.com

As all of you know, there was a terrible incident in Fargo last week. A Fargo Police officer was killed, and three others were injured in a shooting. The officer that was killed was my cousin’s kid. Jake Wallin is my cousin Jeff (and Amy) Wallin’s son. The grandson of John and Carolee Wallin. John was a teacher at Pequot Lakes and a longtime gun safety instructor with his brother Calvin.
Jake was in the National Guard, served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and came home safely. He was a few weeks into his training on the streets as a Fargo Police officer and was murdered by a crazed lunatic that had 1,800 rounds of ammunition, homemade grenades, and other deadly weapons. We found out on Wednesday that Jake and the three cops that were shot were heroes of an unprecedented level. It is believed the shooter was planning to go downtown and shoot up the Fargo Street Fair, which could have killed and injured hundreds and hundreds of people.

Will it make the senseless murder any easier to take for my cousin and the Wallin family? Probably not. But it will make it easier knowing what happened to him and the three other officers saved potentially hundreds of lives, and that makes all four of the even bigger heroes, but it doesn’t bring him back, and that will hurt the family forever.

Make sure to keep my cousin Jeff and his wife Amy and the entire Wallin family in your prayers. They need it more than ever, even with the amazing support they have received from across the country.

And make sure to thank a police officer for protecting the community whenever you see one!

If you haven’t seen the Netflix series Quarterback, make sure you check it out. It follows Pat Mahomes, the Viking’s Kurt Cousins, and Marcus Mariota. Whether you think Cousins is a great quarterback or not, you will leave the series cheering for him even more because he is a genuinely great person who is true to his faith and his pursuit of being the best quarterback he can be.
I am a new big fan of Cousins and hope he has a great year in 2023. I always try to cheer for people that are good people as well as great athletes, and Cousins is just that.

An engineer died and ended up in Hell. Soon, he became dissatisfied with the level of comfort in Hell and began designing and building improvements. After a while, they had flush toilets, air conditioning, and escalators. The engineer was a pretty popular guy.
One day God called to Satan and said with a sneer, So, how’s it going down there in Hell
Satan replied, Hey, things are great. We’ve got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there’s no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next.
God exclaimed, What? You’ve got an engineer? That’s a mistake, he should never have gotten down there in the first place. Send him back up here.
No way, replied Satan. I like having an engineer on the staff, and I’m keeping him.
God threatened, Send him back up here now or I’ll sue!
Satan laughed and answered, Yeah, right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?

A lady goes to the doctor and complains her husband is losing interest in sex.

He gives her a pill but warns her that it’s still experimental. He tells her to slip it in his mashed potatoes at dinner. At dinner that night, she does just that.

About a week later, she’s back at the doctor and tells him, the pill worked great! I put it in his mashed potatoes like you said.

It wasn’t five minutes later that he jumped up, pushed all the food and dishes to the floor, grabbed me, ripped off all my clothes, and ravaged me right there on the table.

The doctor says, Oh dear, I’m sorry, we didn’t realize the pill was that strong. The foundation will be glad to pay for any damages.

The lady replied, That’s very kind, but I don’t think the restaurant will let us back in any way.
