STEPHEN-ARGYLE VOLLEYBALL BEATS RED LAKE FALLS IN THREE SETS

The Red Lake Falls Eagles Volleyball team started strong in the first set, but Stephen-Argyle Storm ultimately won the match by a score of 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-20).

FIRST SET
Red Lake Falls began the first set on a 5-0 run featuring two Shandi Nelson kills. Stephen-Argyle responded with a 4-0 run that started with an Emily Marquis kill. Red Lake Falls went on another 5-0 run, including a Jordan Weiland ace. It was back and forth for the following few points before Red Lake Falls went on a 3-0 run with two kills and an ace from Nelson. Stephen-Argyle’s Isabelle Westman got an ace and made it 15-11 Red Lake Falls, and two points later, they began a 4-0 run featuring kills from Marquis and Regan Swanson. A few points later, Swanson got an ace to tie it up at 17-17. Nelson responded with two kills, and Marquis got a kill to tie it up at 19-19. Stephen-Argyle went on a 3-0 run, featuring kills from Liv Efta and Nora Osowski to make it 22-19. Marquis got a kill to make it 23-20 before Swanson got a kill three points later to end the first set with a Storm victory, 25-22.

SECOND SET
Stephen-Argyle started the second set on a 3-0 run off of a Marquis block and kill. Nelson responded with a kill for Red Lake Falls, and the Eagles went on a 3-0 to tie the set at 3-3. Stephen-Argyle went on another 3-0 run to make it 6-3 before Red Lake Falls tied it up at 7-7 with a kill and a block from Nelson. It was tied again at 8-8, and Red Lake Falls won two straight points to make it 10-8. Stephen-Argyle got a point for Red Lake Falls and won six of the following seven points to make it 16-10. Stephen-Argyle responded by going on an exceptional 15-0 run, including two Swanson aces and three Marquis kills. Stephen-Argyle won the set 25-16, giving them a 2-0 lead. 

THIRD SET
The third set was tied at one, two, three, four, five, and six before Red Lake Falls went on a 3-0 run, featuring an Elizabeth Lytle kill. Stephen-Argyle ended the run with a kill from Ayla Woinarowicz, and the Storm tied it up at 10-10 a few points later. Stephen-Argyle won four of the following five points to make it 14-11 before Red Lake Falls went on a 3-0 to tie it up at 14-14. The set was tied at 15-15 before Stephen-Argyle went on a 3-0 run, including a kill from Woinarowicz to make it 18-15. Red Lake Falls’ Lytle got a kill to end the run before Stephen-Argyle won three of the following four points to make it 21-17. Red Lake Falls got a point before Stephen-Argyle went on a 4-0 run to make it 24-18. Red Lake Falls won two more points before the Storm closed it out to take the third set 25-20 and win the match 3-0.

Red Lake Falls falls to 4-17 on the season and plays in the Frostbite tournament in Fertile on Saturday. Stephen-Argyle improves to 12-7 on the season and plays in the Frostbite tournament.
