Community Conversations planned at area libraries
The public is invited to help shape the future of library services around Lake Agassiz Regional Library (LARL) tonight from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Crookston Public Library. These focused conversations will allow the system to collect information and public input about how LARL can sustain and improve the services, resources, and programs offered at its 22 locations. Light refreshments will be served, and all are welcome.

Crookston Housing & EDA Board
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a quorum of the City of Crookston Housing & EDA Board may be present on April 30, 2025, at 4 p.m. at Valley Technology Park, 510 Co Rd 71, Crookston, MN 56716, for a presentation by UMC Marketing and Landscape Planning classes on the Crookston trail system, associated signage, and other marketing efforts. All members of the public are welcome to attend this meeting.
Crookston Library – Storytime and Craft
The Crookston Public Library will hold Storytime and Crafts, an early literacy experience geared for children ages 3 to 6, on Thursday, May 1, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
RiverView Health First Aid Class
RiverView Health will host a four-hour First Aid Class on Thursday, May 1, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the RiverView Home Care Building, 721 South Minnesota Street in Crookston. The cost of the class is $55. You must pay in advance to save your spot. To register or for more information, call 281-9536. No walk-ins will be accepted.
Crookston Library – Pokemon Card Club
Join fellow traders at the Crookston Public Library to trade and battle with Pokémon cards at the Pokemon Card Club that will meet on Friday, May 2, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Safety Town Registration
Crookston Community Education’s Safety Town registration has been extended to Friday, May 2. The program is open to all children who will complete kindergarten in 2025. For more information, call Washington School at 281-2762.

Red River Valley Motorcyclists – Spirit of American Bike and Car Show
The Red River Valley Motorcyclists Spirit of America Bike and Car Show will be held at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks on Saturday, May 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 4, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $10. Kids 12 and under are free with a paying adult. Net proceeds will benefit the Veterans Honor Flight of ND/MN.
Honor Flight Benefit Pancake Breakfast
An Honor Flight Benefit Pancake Breakfast will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Masonic Hall at 112 West Robert in downtown Crookston. The menu includes pancakes, French toast, waffles, sausage, and fruit; gluten-free options are available. The Masonic Lodge 141 will prepare the breakfast. A free-will offering will be taken, with proceeds going to Honor Flight ND/MN.

The Crookston Public Library will hold its Annual Meeting on Monday, May 5 at 4:00 at the Crookston Library.
High School Choir Concert
The Crookston High School Choir Concert will be Monday, May 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium.
Climax Public Library – Book Club
Join the Climax Public Library’s Book Club for a discussion of The Radium Girls by Kate Moore which is set during WWI and tells the stories of the hundreds of young women who worked in radium-dial factories and began to fall mysteriously ill. The group will meet on Monday, May 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Climax Public Library, 104 W. Broadway. All are welcome, including those who have not yet read the selected title.
Matter of Balance Classes
RiverView Health will hold its free Matter of Balance classes from May 5 to June 30, with the exception of Memorial Day Monday, May 26. Classes are held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Golden Link. Call RiverView Home Care at 281-9478 to register.

The Crookston Library will hold Baby Bounce, a social and early literacy activity for children 0-3, on Tuesday, May 6, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
Northland Community Band – Spring Concert
The Northland Community Band is pleased to announce its upcoming Spring Band Concert, scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025. The concert will commence at 7:00 p.m. at the Northland Community & Technical College Theater in Thief River Falls, and we cordially invite the community to join us for an evening of diverse musical performances. This concert will showcase a variety of pieces performed by talented local instrumentalists,
ensuring an enjoyable experience for attendees of all ages, including families and children.
Admission is free, although donations are welcome.
DNR Hunting Safety Training
The DNR Hunting Safety Training for ages 11 and over will begin on May 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Crookston Gun Club. The classes will continue to meet on Thursday, May 8 and 15, Tuesday, May 13, and Friday, May 9 and 16. Field Day and Test will be on Saturday, May 17. Climax and Halstad Library
Librarians at the Climax Public Library and the Halstad Library LINK Site are inviting community members to a planting workshop featuring Petals on Main proprietor Marilyn Dybing. Participants will enjoy an afternoon of tea and planting and will learn how to create their own spring container, all in the company of fellow garden enthusiasts. The program is offered free-of-charge and will be held at Petals on Main, 124 Johnson St., in Shelly on Wednesday, May 7 from 4-6 p.m. No purchase will be expected of participants and refreshments will be served.

Crookston Youth Track and Field meet
There will be a Crookston Youth Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 10, at the KROX Radio Stadium by the Crookston High School. A free will light breakfast will be at 9:30 a.m. and meet starts at 10:00 a.m. There will be a variety of events for kids 12 and under. A mile race will be open to all ages, youth, and adults. West Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District – Scholarship
The West Polk County Soil and Water Conservation District is offering a $1,000 college scholarship for a degree in Agricultural Science or Natural Resource Science. To be eligible, applicants must be West Polk County residents, attending high schools within West Polk County, and graduating in the spring of 2025. Every Tuesday (except for Federal Holidays), The Crookston Public Library will host New Born Baby Talk from 9:30 am. to 11:00 a.m. This is for parents with babies 0-12 weeks old. A public health nurse, parent educator, and lactation specialist will be available to answer questions about your newborn and provide support and information on your new journey of parenting.
