Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to rural Winger structure fire Monday morning

On Monday, February 17, at approximately 8:27 a.m., the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a barn fire at 41334 240th Ave SE rural Winger. When Deputies arrived on the scene, the barn was smoldering. Livestock and individuals were evacuated from the barn. The Winger Fire Department, Fertile Fire Department, McIntosh Fire Department, and Fosston Fire Department responded to assist. Essentia Ambulance responded as well and no injuries were reported.

The MN State Fire Marshal was contacted, and it was determined that the fire was from hay that caught fire in the loft. No further information will be released at this time.
