On Saturday, June 8, the body of a 19-year-old male from Thief River Falls was recovered at Little Vanose Lake in Mahnomen County. The victim had been jet skiing without a life jacket and was reported missing on the evening of June 7. A massive ground, air and water search was conducted. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Mahnomen County Sheriff’s office was assisted by the White Earth Police Department, White Earth Conservation, Mahnomen Fire Department, Mahnomen/White Earth Emergency Management, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota State Patrol, Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, University of North Dakota Police Department, Grand Forks Police Department, Grand Forks County Sheriff’s office and Unmanned Arial Services.
