Polk County Commissioners Meeting news

The Polk County Commissioners met on Tuesday and began budget discussion for 2019.  They will meet with department heads and go over the requests. “We started going through departments budgets line by line, looking at new requests and inflationary changes, looking closely at revenues and trying to get to the final weeks of the budget in October and November early December,” said Polk County Administrator Chuck Whiting.  “The board will meet with each department head one on one in September. We have gotten some numbers from insurance, workers compensation, and insurance trust dividend we will receive.  We have a long way to go as we are in negotiations with the seven unions, so we are looking at them closely.”  The commissioners will set the preliminary levy and get it reduced by December.
The commissioners approved a nursing agreement between Polk County Public Health and Tri-County Corrections.
