Larry Robert Brule, 70, a longtime resident of Crookston, MN passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025 at his home in Park Rapids, MN.
Larry was born February 28, 1955 in Crookston to Robert and Darlyne (Youngquist) Brule. He grew up in Crookston and attended Central High School. Over the years he worked for Brule Builders, Structures Inc., Ability concrete Inc., and American Crystal Sugar Company (retired in 2013) as a carpenter. He was an accomplished master carpenter and masonry worker. These talents were called upon by many friends and family after his retirement, always keeping him busy. He had a CDL, and in his early years occasionally drove for Strata.
Larry was very proud of his kids and grandkids & enjoyed watching them play hockey & soccer. You could always find Larry helping people out with projects. He enjoyed hunting, hanging out with his buddies in Crookston, Florida, and Park Rapids, riding his Polaris RZR, and just spending time with family and friends. He was looking forward to more relaxation at the lake. His latest project was fixing up an old pontoon that will be dubbed, “Papa’s Barge”. Larry loved riding his motorcycle and looked forward to attending Sturgis and Daytona bike week with his motorcycle family. He enjoyed Yoga on Saturday mornings with his Florida crew. Larry was a certified SCUBA diver and enjoyed scuba diving with his daughter. Early in life he was an avid downhill skier. He enjoyed family trips to Cancun, Disney World, Universal Studios, a fishing trip to Alaska, Las Vegas, Keywest, and most recently cruises in the Caribbean.
Larry is survived by his special friend, Diane Solberg; his children, Nicole (Tom) Lindo of Rochester, MN, Josh (Jamie Hagen) Brule of Rochester, MN, Justin Brule of Grand Forks, ND; Diane’s daughters, Amanda (Scott) Fallgren of Guthrie, MN, Jodi Leavitt of Bagley, MN; grandchildren, Kaydin Brule, Brady, Kenzie, Klaira Lindo, Emily, Brynlee Brule; Diane’s grandchildren, Nick (Taylor) Fallgren, Macie (Tyler) Bird, Dominic Fallgren, Holly, Carsen, & Kennedy Soderstrom; his sisters, Patsy Fallon of Detroit Lakes, MN, Debbie Lamoreux of North Mankato, MN, Mary Kay (Phil Swenson) of Fertile, MN; many nieces, nephews, 8 great grandkids, and several friends that he thought of as brothers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Darlyne Brule; and his grandparents, Lawrence & Alice (Sylvester) Youngquist, to whom he was very close with as a young man.
A Celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 4pm-7pm, with a small prayer service prior for close family and friends at 2pm, at his shop, 20505 250th St SW, Crookston MN 56716.
Those with motorcycles or anyone that wants, please meet us at IC Muggs at 3:30pm to be part of Larry’s last ride out to his shop for an open house celebration of life.
