According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Highway 2 culvert replacement project near Bemidji will begin on August 18. Motorists will detour for approximately four days during the construction of each segment:
- August 18: Highway 2 westbound lanes centerline culvert replacement from Washington Ave SE to Division Street
- Detour: Washington Ave SE (Highway 197) to Division Street (Fifth Street)
- August 25: Highway 2 eastbound lanes culvert replacement from Washington Ave SE to Hubbard County Road 36
- Detour: Highway 71 south, Beltrami Line Road, Hubbard County Road 36
Each project will be detoured for approximately 4 days but residents and businesses will be able to access their properties. Thru traffic will not be allowed to ensure safety of the workers. The project is expected to be complete late-August, weather permitting.
