UMC Men’s Golf finishes 13th in Missouri

The University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagle men’s golf had an impressive round three, shooting 289 as a team to catapult up three spots, finishing in a tie with Fort Hays State for 13th at the Mules National Golf Course in Warrensburg, Missouri, hosted by Central Missouri.

Central Oklahoma won the tournament, while host school Central Missouri finished in second, 14 strokes behind the Central Oklahoma. Arkansas-Fort Smith moved up nine spots during the final round to finish in third, while Dallas Baptist and Southwest Oklahoma State rounded out the top five.

Nicholas Canales of Central Oklahoma won the individual championship, shooting three under par throughout the tournament.

For UMC, Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) finished in 33rd, but moved up rapidly up the leaderboard, entering the day in 77th. Wilhelm shot one under the day and was helped by five birdies. Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) was one over for the day and finished in 41st. Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) finished in 45th.

UMC will compete at the Bulldog Fall Classic in Big Rapids, Michigan, hosted by Ferris State.
