The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team won all three doubles matches and got a win at second singles to beat the Perham Yellowjackets 4-3 in Perham.
The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team won all three doubles matches and also won the second singles match to beat the Perham Yellowjackets on Thursday afternoon.
Crookston’s three doubles teams won some hard-fought matches as the first doubles team of Chloe Boll and Ava Martin won a tough first set 6-4 and clicked in the second set to win 6-2.
The second doubles team of Madelyn Anderson and Logan Brekken won a back-and-forth battle 7-5 in the first set. In the second set, it was another close one, but the Pirates won 6-3.
At third doubles, Lucy Smith and Grace Boll won the first set 6-4 before pulling away to win the second set a little easier by a 6-2 score.
The lone Pirate singles win came at second singles, with Emma LaPlante winning a good battle by winning the first set 6-4. In the second set, LaPlante took care of business to win 6-3.
Crookston had a 4-2 lead with one match left as the Pirate eighth grader Lauren Tull won her first set at third singles 7-5. She lost a heartbreaker 6-4 in the second set, ran out of gas in the third set, and lost 10-1, but played a solid match.
Emelia Hoerner lost her first set at second singles 6-2 before losing a battle in the second set by a 7-5 score.
Crookston improves to 6-5 on the year and will travel to Bemidji on Tuesday.
