John Ernest Taus, age 50, of Moorhead, Minnesota, passed away peacefully due to medical issues on October 25, 2025. John was born in Litchfield, MN, on June 25, 1971, and was happily welcomed into the Taus family six weeks later. He grew up in Crookston, where he graduated with the Central High School class of 1994.
After earning a degree in Architectural Drafting and Design from Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls, John spent his career working as a CAD Technician for many years in Dickinson, ND, and later in Fargo.
John was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he especially loved spending his free time at the lake and with his family. He also enjoyed shooting pool, playing darts, and cooking. John was always happy to lend a hand in the kitchen, making holidays and family gatherings more memorable.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lillian and Norris Hanson and Mary and John Taus. He is survived by his loving parents, Ernest and Sandra Taus of Crookston; sister, Stacy (Jason) Bolstad; nieces, Elena (Leon) Armbruster and Josephine Bolstad; aunts and uncles, Robert Hanson, Norris Hanson, Marilyn Thorson, Gene (Elaine) Hanson on his mother’s side, and Betty Johnson and Donald (Janice) Taus on his father’s side; as well as many cousins and a large circle of extended family and friends who will miss him greatly.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Crookston, MN.
