Climax-Fisher Boys Basketball scores 54 in each half, uses offensive explosion to beat Northome-Kelliher

The Climax-Fisher Boys Basketball team hit 17 threes and scored 54 points in each half en route to a 108-87 victory over the Northome-Kelliher Mustangs in Northome on Friday night.

FIRST HALF –
CLimax-Fisher got off to a great start in this game, opening up on a 14-4 run. getting 8 points from Tyler Evitts in the process. However, the Mustangs had an answer, going on an 8-0 run to cut the lead down to 2 at 14-12. From there, both teams began exchanging baskets, and then almost exclusively exchanging free throws, with a combined 26 fouls being committed in the half. At 26-25 Knights, an Anthony Johnson layup gave the Mustangs tgheir first lead of the game, but a 3-pointer from Tristan Schwartz quickly erased that lead. The teams kept going back and forth until it was 41-39 Knights, and the Mustangs played their best basketball of the half, going on a 9-0 run to give the Mustangs a 48-41 lead with 3:07 to go. The last laugh in the half went to the Knights, though, and they ended the half on a 13-5 run, getting a bucker from Branson Solheim in the final seconds of the half to take a 54-53 lead into the locker room.

SECOND HALF –
In the second half, the shots kept raining in for Climax-Fisher. Tyler Evitts hit a three-pointer early after a 22-point first half, and that catapulted a big-time run for the Knights. Buckets for Dustin Carl and Branson Solheim blew the game open, as the Knights went on a 20-6 run to start the second half, giving the Knights a 74-59 lead. The Mustangs looked for answers, especially in transition, but the Knights offense would not let up. Ty Torrence and Sawyer Eriicskon each hit shots to help the Knights maintain their 15-point gap at 86-71. Then, after the Mustangs cut the lead to 12 at 89-77, the Knights went on a 10-2 run capped off by an insane spin move by Solheim, and the Knights took a 99-79 lead. Climax-Fisher would add a few more points in the final minutes en route to a dominant 108-87 win.

Both Climax-Fisher and Northome-Kelliher are 3-3 after Friday night’s result.
