The Polk County Highway Department said it will close Fisher Avenue in Crookston from Casey’s to the Crookston Sports Center because it cannot keep up with the blowing snow, continually making large drifts. The press release is below-
With the snow and wind, we can’t keep up and are pulling equipment off of Fisher Ave. (CSAH 11) from Caseys to the arena. So this stretch of roadway is closed to traffic. So please don’t drive this stretch of roadway as you will get stuck and won’t be able to get pulled out until the wind dies down. Which sounds like Monday morning.
CITY OF CROOKSTON SNOW REMOVAL UPDATE
Strong winds continue to cause large snow drifts and very low visibility across the City. Travel conditions can change quickly and may become hazardous.
City Public Works crews were out overnight and throughout most of the morning, actively:
– Clearing drifting snow
– Widening streets where possible
– Assisting tow trucks with motorists who became stuck
Crews will reassess conditions later today and respond as weather allows, as drifting continues to reform in many areas.
Please use caution if you must travel.
If possible, we strongly encourage residents and businesses to limit travel until conditions improve.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as crews continue working to keep streets as safe as possible.
