Bruce Allen Jallo, 69, of Rural Fertile, MN, unexpectedly passed away at his residence on January 19,
He was born in Waco, Texas on November 28, 1956, to Alden and LaVonne (Strem) Jallo.
A lifelong resident of the Fertile area, Bruce graduated from Fertile-Beltrami High School and while
attending he was active in 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA). He earned an associate’s degree
from the University of Minnesota Crookston in Agriculture. In July of 1998, Bruce was united in marriage
to Maria Alzalde at Varnes Lutheran Church, when Bruce lovingly became a father to Maria’s 5 children.
Bruce first worked with his dad raising dairy cows before switching to raising beef cattle. Over the years,
Bruce worked as a driver for gravel, milk, and sugar beet trucks. Bruce also worked at American Crystal
Sugar for 20+ years. He served on the Garfield Insurance Board and Varnes Lutheran Church Cemetery
Board. Bruce was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.
Bruce had a kind and hardworking nature and was known as a loyal friend to many. He had a deep love for
his dogs, cattle, and the simple joys of country life.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Maria Jallo; his children, Juanita (Chris) Garcia of East Grand Forks, MN,
Humberto (Alexx) Alzalde of Crookston, MN, and Maui Hernandez of Crookston, MN; his 17
grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; his sisters, Gaye Jallo of Crookston, MN; and Joan (David) Ruen
of Custer, SD; and his 2 nieces and 7 great nephews and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alden and LaVonne Jallo; his sons, Gilberto (Gilbert) Garcia, and
Juan (Gorilla) Garcia; his nephew, Andrew Ruen; and his numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral Service: 12:00 PM, Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fertile, MN.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the church.
Interment: Varnes Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Fertile, MN.
