Thomas C. Keeney, age 84, of Shelly, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 26, 2026, at his residence.
Tom was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laurel Ann Keeney (Aarestad); his parents, Cecil Croll Keeney and Rose Marie Keeney (Pozorski); his daughter, Denise Laurel Keeney; his granddaughter, Samantha Renae Keeney; and his siblings, Patty, Bobby, Shirley, Jimmy, Ronnie, Richard, and Mike.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Scott Keeney (Becky Lingen-Keeney); his daughter, Naomi Sarah Stevens (Michael James Stevens); his brother, Charlie Keeney (Maryann); and his grandchildren, Allison Marie Stevens, Jennifer Fuchs, and Sean Michael Stevens.
Tom deeply missed his wife Laurel and lived alone following her passing in 2013, though he was never truly alone in spirit. He was one of a kind—always ready with a quick line or a funny comment. Rarely serious, Tom had a gift for leaving everyone he met with a smile or a laugh. His sense of humor, warmth, and unmistakable presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home, Halstad, MN.
Interment: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, rural Halstad at a later date.
