The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) men’s golf team shot their lowest round in four years by carding a 308 in the first round of the Bemidji State University Invitational in Bemidji at the Town and Country Club. UMC is in 10th place, 23 strokes behind the leader.
The Golden Eagles were led by Ben Trostad (Fr., Crookston), who carded a 73 in his first collegiate round and is in a tie for 12th place individually. Connor Humble (So., Rosemount) shot a 75 and sits in 21st place. Ben Lord (Jr., Brunswick, Maine) shot a 78, Ben Koisti (Sr., Lake Norden, S.D.) an 82, Ethan Johnson (Sr., Roseau) shot an 84, and Ethan Magsam (Fr., Crookston) and Dylan Wenzel (Fr., Lino Lakes) shot 88.
Devon Schade from the University of Manitoba is in first after shooting a seven-under-par 65. Levi Hauser of Winona State University is three strokes back at 68. The University of Manitoba has the overall team lead at 285, nine strokes ahead of University of Sioux Falls.
UMC will finish the tournament on Tuesday.
