RiverView Foundation’s Golf Classic raises $26,500 for EKG machines

Seventeen teams hit the links in Crookston for a great cause on Monday, June 8, during the RiverView Foundation’s 21st Annual Golf Classic, raising $26,500 to support the purchase of new EKG (electrocardiogram) machines for RiverView Health.

EKGs are a critical diagnostic tool used daily in both the Emergency Department and inpatient units. These tests provide a rapid, noninvasive assessment of heart function, allowing clinicians to quickly identify serious conditions such as heart attacks, arrhythmias, and other cardiac abnormalities.

The new EKG machines join a long list of equipment purchases and program-enhancing initiatives made possible through proceeds from the annual golf event.

“The Golf Classic has made a significant impact for RiverView and improved the level of care we provide,” shared Foundation Director Randy Schoenborn. “With the support of our generous sponsors, golfers, and donors, the Foundation has raised almost $510,000 in the Classic’s 21-year history, funding many priority patient-focused initiatives.

“Thank you for helping to ensure the Foundation can assist RiverView Health in providing exceptional care for exceptional outcomes.”

This year, New Horizon Foods joined the event as a Partner Sponsor. Major sponsors included Consulting Radiologists, Ltd.; CL Linfoot Co.; First Community Credit Union; Garden Valley Technologies; Glen and Marlys Finkenbinder; Hugo’s Family Marketplace; Lunseth Plumbing and Heating Co.; UMR; and USI Insurance Services.

Claiming top honors on the course was Prairie Land Metal, represented by Fred Wentzel, Alex Wentzel, Kevin Weber, and Kyle Weber.

This year’s Golf Classic also marked Schoenborn’s final tournament as Foundation director before his retirement later this summer.

“With my retirement coming up in August, I want to thank our generous supporters for investing in RiverView and helping keep healthcare close to home,” he said.
