Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 22, 2026 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Oklee, MN with Father Bryan Kujawa presiding.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:00 PM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Oklee, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery, Oklee, MN.

Lois Marie Plante was born March 24, 1951, in Fosston (Lambert Township), MN, to Frank Xavier Sr. and Myrtle Mae (Charboneau) Plante; the youngest daughter of the family, she was raised on the farm. Lois was baptized in the Catholic faith at St. Francis Xavier Church in Oklee on June 1, 1952. Later, she was confirmed on April 22, 1964. After attending Oklee Elementary and High School, Lois took care of her parents until age 37. She then moved to Fertile, MN, for eight years, retiring early in Winger, MN, due to spinal difficulties, staying in Winger until the time of her death.

She was employed at Lee Nursery in Fertile, worked in the potato fields, managed the Fertile ice skating rink, did custodial work for the Sand Hill Watershed District, worked at a mink farm as a pelt stretcher, babysat and did housekeeping for several families around Fertile, and did volunteer work.  Lois wasn’t afraid of hard labor and getting her hands dirty. She loved gardening and making up her own recipes, cooking, and baking.  A very good-hearted person, she enjoyed helping people, entertaining at nursing homes, singing with her friends, music, and dancing around the clock in her youth.  She never married; she loved children and will be remembered for the “train whistle” she did and the way she made you laugh.

She enjoyed reading books, watching TV, playing cards, writing letters, listening to old-time country music, dining out, and fishing. Lois was fond of telling jokes and playing pranks on friends; when you saw her with a grin, you knew she had something up her sleeve.  Her special joy was cooking for people
and sharing her baked goodies with others; Lois enjoyed company.

She was a life-long member of St. Francis Xavier Church, Oklee.

Lois is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and several friends, with special mention of Alvin Langseth of Red Lake Falls, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Myrtle; brothers, Frank Jr., Ernest, Robert, Johnny and infant brother John; sisters, Eunice Qualley, Judith Olson, Sarah Hansen, Linda Rodriguez, and infant sister Verna; brothers-in-law, Steve Olson, Earl Rodriguez, Leo Qualley, Ernest Horn, and Richard Hansen.
