Marlys Fern Vaudrin, age 84, of Crookston, Minnesota, passed away, Friday, July 17, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on September 16, 1941, in Red Lake Falls, MN, daughter of Joseph and Dulice (Demarais) St. Marie. On March 31, 1959, she married Clarence Edgar Vaudrin at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Marlys and Frenchie settled on the farmstead Frenchie grew up on and together they raised five children: Darrell, Vicki, Gary, Kevin and Cherie.
Marlys was a homemaker, a stronghearted, hardworking mother with a witty and fun personality. She would do anything for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, cooking, quilting and playing cards. She loved entertaining and enjoyed a good gathering with family and friends.
She is survived by, her children, Darrell Vaudrin of Crookston, Vicki (George) Walters of Erskine, MN, Gary (Barb) Vaudrin of Park Rapids, MN, Kevin Vaudrin of Crookston, and Cherie (Mark) Steinmetz of Paradise Valley, AZ; nine grandchildren: Richard Vaudrin, Jessica Vaudrin, Elizabeth (Jeremy) Marti, Mady, and Ally Vaudrin, McKayla (Jon) Weston-Walter, Kyle (Taylor) Walters, and Amanda and Sydney Steinmetz; great grandson, Jalen Vaudrin; siblings, Joann Brunelle of Crookston, MN, and Carol Pederson of Red Lake Falls, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Dulice; stepfather, Clarence “Clem” Davis; her husband, Frenchie; siblings, Ray (Mae) St. Marie, Delbert (Barb) St. Marie, Phyllis (Hank) Schmitz, Julie (Jerry) King, Bobby Joe St. Marie; brothers-in-law, Willard Brunelle and Kendall Pederson.
Mass of Christian Burial for Marlys Vaudrin will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2026, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Gentilly, MN, with Reverend Father Pat Sullivan, officiating. Visitation with the family will be held two hours before the service at the church. Inurnment will be in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Gentilly, MN.
