Keith David Mills, age 81, passed away on July 25, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota. He was born December 28, 1944, in St. Paul, Minnesota to parents Samuel and Noreen (Vigen) Mills. Throughout his life, Keith dedicated himself to serving his community, his country, and those he loved.
Keith’s formative years took shape in Minnesota, where he graduated from Ada High School and went on to further his education at Moorhead State College. His dedication was foundational to the many roles he would later take on in life.
Keith married Arlene Forseth in April of 1967. They grew their family and had two children, Angela and Corey.
That same year, Keith answered the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Army. During his time in service, he was deployed to Vietnam from 1967 to 1968, where he worked in communications. His valor and commitment did not go unrecognized, as he was honored with the Army Commendation Medal as a reflection of his outstanding service to his country.
In July of 1984, Keith married Susan Nelson, and welcomed her two sons, Mike and David, into his family.
After returning home, Keith dedicated his professional life to helping others. He began his career as a Probation Officer for the Tri County Community. For over three decades, from 1974 until his retirement in 2010, he served as a Corrections Officer in Polk, Norman, and Red Lake Counties. His extraordinary Commitment and professionalism were recognized through the Minnesota Corrections Association Professional Achievement Awards, which he received in both 1991 and 2007.
Outside of his professional life, Keith found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, watching the Minnesota Viking’s games, bowling, traveling, and camping in his RV.
Keith is survived by his wife, Susan Mills; children, Angela Mills, Corey (Betsy) Mills; stepson, Mike (Vicky) Davidson; grandchildren, Lillian, Jonathan, Brody (Haley), Olivia, Ava, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Dean, Aubrey, Freya; half-brother, Donald Mills; sister-in-law, Beverly Mills; niece, Heather; nephew, Tate; and other beloved family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Noreen Mills; stepmother, Bette Mills; brother, Terry Mills; and stepson, David Davidson.
Keith leaves behind a legacy of honor, service, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
