The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Swimming team dropped a Section 8A dual against the Warroad/Roseau cooperative 126-51 hosted at the Warroad High School Swimming Pool.
Madison Hoiland continued her dominance in her best two events to lead Crookston with first-place finishes in the 100-meter breaststroke and 50-meter freestyle. The 200-meter medley relay team of Mackenzie Aamoth,
Madison Hoiland, Claire Oman, and Fallon Johnson finished in second place with a time of 2:21.20. Fallon Johnson also earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle finishing in 2:27.27 along with second-place finishes in the 500-meter freestyle. Claire Oman delivered a strong performance in the 200-meter IM with a time of 2:50.78 for a second-place finish. “Claire Oman had her best ever 200 IM cutting eleven seconds from her season-best,” explained coach Marley Melbye, who was unable to attend the meet, but reviewed the results. Mackenzie Aamoth earned a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter backstroke. Claire Oman took second place in the 100-meter freestyle as well. Fallon Johnson, Mackenzie Aamoth, Claire Oman, and Madison Hoiland rounded out Crookston’s strong performances with a second-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay. “I looked over the results and it looks like it was a fantastic meet,” summarized Melbye. “There were so many highlighted races today.”
The Pirates return to the water on Thursday when Crookston hosts a dual with Thief River Falls beginning at 5:30 P.M.
