CHEDA agrees to sell an Eickhof lot for $18,000 during Thursday’s special meeting

The Crookston Housing and Economic Development Authority had a special meeting Thursday morning and voted to authorize the sale of a CHEDA-owned property on Eickhof Boulevard to Klevgaard Homes, LLC for $18,000.

Community Development Director Taylor Wyum provided a brief review of the previous discussions held in closed session at the September 24 meeting. During that meeting, Klevgaard’s $17,500 counteroffer was discussed, and the board countered with $18,000, which Klevgaard approved. Wyum has been working to sell the three remaining Eickhof lots that were purchased by CHEDA in 2023. “I was contacted by a private party, Klevgaard Homes, who was looking for property that was city or CHEDA-owned, and so I let them know we had three lots on Eickhof. We met as a board during a closed session to discuss a potential sale price on the property and whether or not the board was interested in selling the property, and came to a decision. We made an offer. The potential purchaser made a counteroffer, and then today, we were able to authorize a sale at an agreeable price point, so it was good.”

The new owner plans to build a single-family residence on the lot and wants to begin construction as soon as possible to have a foundation in place before winter weather begins. Wyum is excited to see continued residential development along Eickhof Boulevard and will continue to seek potential buyers for the remaining CHEDA-owned lots. “I think it’s excellent. There have been quite a few homes that have come up along Eickhof Boulevard in the last few years and even a couple this year, so I think that’s really encouraging.”

The next CHEDA board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, at 7:00 a.m. at Valley Technology Park on County Road 71 in Crookston.
