The #2-ranked Kittson County Central Bearcats scored on their first five drives of the game and cruised to a 50-0 victory over the Warren-Alvarado-Oslo Ponies on Thursday evening in Warren.
1st Quarter –
Kittson County Central started the game with the ball at their own 47 yard line. The first play was an 11 yard run by Ashton Knutson for a first down. Two plays later the Bearcats had another first down to the Pony 33 yard line. On the fourht play of the game, Eli Peterson dumped a screen pass to Elijah Muir and he scampered to a 33 yard touchdown for a 6-0 lead.
WAO had a three-and-out and were forced to punt. Kittson County Central got the ball back at their own 33 yard line and lost six yards on the first two plays before they had a nine yard pass to Knutson for a fourth down and one situation. The Bearcats handed the ball off to Knutson and he sprinted down the field for a 57 yard touchdown run and a 12-0 lead with 5:22 left in the quarter.
Warren-Alvarado-Oslo had another three and out and had to punt. KCC’s Kellen Johnson blocked the punt and Track Foland scooped up the ball and returned it all the way to the Pony eight yard line. KCC scored on the first play with an eight yard pass from Peterson to Kellen Johnson for a touchdown. Muir added the two-point conversion for a 20-0 lead at the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter –
KCC got the ball to start the second quarter after the Ponies had a seven play drive that sputtered and they turned it over on down. The Bearcats took advantage of good field position with the ball at their own 43 yard line. Muir ran for 22 yards on two carries to start the drive. Two plays later, Knutson broke to the outside and dove into the endzone for a 13 yard touchdown run and after the two-point conversion the Bearcats led 28-0.
Warren-Alvarado-Oslo ran three plays for 18 yards and were moving the ball down the field. On the fourth play of the drive, KCC knocked the ball loose and Knutson jumped on the ball to give the Bearcats the ball back at their own 25. KCC’s first play of the drive was an 11 yard run before Knutson ran for 41 yards while breaking several tackles. Three plays later, Muir ran 16 yards and had a Pony defender holding on to his leg, but Muir powered through with his free leg and then dove into the endzone for a touchdown. Muir added the two-point conversion for a 36-0 lead.late in the first half.
3rd Quarter –
The third quarter flew by as they had running time for most of the quarter and both teams went deep to the bench. WAO ran four plays before they turned it over on downs. KCC started their first offensive series in the second half at their own 39 yard line. After a one yard run, KCC had a pair of 11 yard runs for two first downs. After a 12 yard run, Mason Ogorek ran for 22 yards and another first and goal. Three plays later, Levi Nordine scored on a three yard quarterback sneek for a touchdown while chewing up almost five minutes of the clock. The two point conversion was good and the Bearcats led 44-0.
4th Quarter –
KCC had the ball in the early in the fourth quarter and on the third play of the drive, Asher Peterson broke off a big run of 46 yards. A couple of plays later, Mason Ogorek scored on a one yard run for a 50-0 lead.
Neither team was able to do much the rest of the game and only a handful of plays were run the rest of the way and KCC won the game 50-0.
