Residents in Crookston and Polk County are encouraged to support veterans by displaying green lights during Operation Green Light Week

The Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee of Crookston is encouraging residents to participate in the annual Operation Green Light celebration beginning on Sunday, November 8, and running through Saturday, November 14.

Operation Green Light is an initiative of the National Association of Counties that raises awareness of the unique challenges faced by many veterans and the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to assist veterans and their families.

The City of Crookston issued a proclamation at its October 19 city council meeting declaring the week of Wednesday, November 4 through Wednesday, November 11 as Operation Green Light for Veterans Week, and the Polk County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution at their September 22 meeting to illuminate the flagpoles outside of the Polk County Government Center with a green light from November 4 through 11.

Residents of Crookston and across Polk County are encouraged to display a green light or sign in their homes and businesses to honor and support active-duty service members, veterans, and their families, and to raise awareness of veteran-related causes and missions.
