The following is a letter to the Crookston community from the Crookston Youth Basketball Association.
There’s a certain feeling when basketball season rolls around.
When the Minnesota air turns crisp, the days get shorter, and the first snowfall is on the horizon, you know there’s something special just around the corner.
Laces get tightened. Sneakers hit the hardwood. Basketballs start bouncing in gyms across the land. And for a little while, we’re reminded of a simpler time. The familiar sound of a ball bouncing, the unmistakable snap of the net, the squeak of shoes on the floor, the excitement of game day, and the feeling of being right where you belong. Home. And just like that, it’s basketball season in Crookston!
First and foremost, THANK YOU. Thank you to every family who registered and chose to be part of the Crookston Youth Basketball Association this season. We have officially surpassed 110 registered players!
Take a moment to let that sink in. More than 110 kids in our community will have the opportunity to learn, grow, compete, build friendships, and make memories this season. What an incredible and overwhelming show of support for youth basketball in Crookston!
It takes a community to make something like this possible. To our parents and families, thank you for trusting us with your kids, supporting the program, encouraging them along the way, and helping create an environment where they can learn not only the game of basketball, but lessons that will stay with them long after the final buzzer.
To everyone who volunteers, supports, encourages, and gives their time to make youth basketball possible, we are incredibly grateful. Programs like this don’t happen without people who care, and Crookston continues to show just how much it cares about its kids.
As we head into another season, let’s remember what it’s all about. It’s about more than wins and losses. It’s about learning the game, being a great teammate, competing with character, building confidence, and creating memories. It’s about the friendships made, the lessons learned, the high-fives after a great play, and the smiles that come from simply being part of a team.
So tighten those laces, grab that basketball, and get ready, Crookston.
Basketball is calling. And there’s no place we’d rather be.
