AGASSIZ ALC TO HOST 3 PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES ON AUGUST 22

Explore, enjoy, and connect with Nature on the fourth Tuesday of every month for Nature Discovery Day, a free public nature education at the Agassiz Environmental Learning Center.

Tuesday, August 22 at 10:00 a.m. Families with children ages 3-7 for the Nature Sprouts; Mushroom Fan Club. Spend approximately one-hour exploring fascinating fungi through hands-on nature activities, inspiring little kids to discover the FUN in fungi.

At 1:00-3:00 pm, everyone is welcome to join Nature Wanders to enjoy making wild fruit into delicious jam. Discover how to identify the variety of fruit that grows naturally in our region. Learn responsible harvesting with mindfulness of environmental impacts. Learn how to prepare harvested fruit as Miss Donna shares an easy method to making jam.

Nature Explorers invites youth ages 8-12 and their families for wilderness camping from 4:00-5:30 pm. Whether camping in the backyard or deep in the woods, explore simple tips for selecting the ideal spot to pitch a tent. Practice setting up a modern tent and creating a simple tarp shelter. Every good campsite needs a campfire. Youth will learn safety, materials needed, and how to make a campfire to roast marshmallows.
