Aino Krogstad – Obit

Aino Krogstad, 98, of Fertile, MN, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at her home under the care of her family and hospice.

Aino Christine Knausberg was born on September 25, 1922, at Tallinn, Estonia, the daughter of Edward and Ida (Vikholm) Knausberg. She attended school in Tallinn. Following her school years, she worked in area cafés until moving to Germany during World War II at the age of 22.Aino Krogstad

In December 1950 she, along with her young daughter Heidi (now Heidi Launius of East Grand Forks, MN), traveled to Fertile. On November 23, 1952, she married Clarence Krogstad.

Together they had 3 additional daughters; Connie (John) York Lehnig, of Fertile, Mary (Kevin) Grams, of Circle Pines, MN, and another who passed away at birth. Aino worked 40 years at Fair Meadow Nursing Home before retiring in 2000. She was an avid gardener and quilter and lover of all animals. She was also known for her excellent cooking and baking.

Besides her daughters, Aino is survived by 6 grandchildren; Tamara (Michael) Sweeney, Dustin (Caraleigh) Lehnig, Ammon (Kristen) Lehnig, Nicole (BJ)  Fulgham, Emily Robeck, Anthony “Ray” Robeck Jr., and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Clarence; a brother, Richard, sisters Agnes and Mary, and grandsons Aaron Lehnig and David Nelson, and great-grandson JJ Sweeney.

A private family-only funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Faaberg Lutheran Church, rural Fertile, MN, following all of the Minnesota and CDC COVID-19 social distancing guidelines. All are required to wear a mask.

Burial: Faaberg Lutheran Cemetery rural Fertile, MN.
