Ardyce Holte went home to be with Jesus at the age of 100 on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, with her children by her side at the Halstad Living Center.
Ardyce Clara Genora (Evje) Holte was born December 27, 1922, in Shelly, Minnesota to Herman and Gina (Stole) Evje. She was baptized at Shelly Lutheran Church on February 25, 1923, and confirmed there on October 24, 1937. She attended Shelly Elementary School, graduating July 8, 1937, and from Climax High School in May 1941.
On January 1, 1942, Ardyce married Ames Holte in Shelly, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children, Peter, Susan, and Gregorey. Ardyce and Ames farmed the family farm, receiving the Century Farm Award, until their retirement in 1985.
Music was an important part of Ardyce’s life. She served as an organist at Augustana Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN, for sixty years, sang with the Inspirations and with the Augustana Trio. Ardyce served as an administrative assistant at the Red River Valley Coop for 25 years. Ardyce also enjoyed volunteering. She served as a 4H leader, Sunday school teacher, a Foster Grandparent at Norman County West and also helped at the local Library Link. She enjoyed golf, Red Hats, Bible study and visits with her family and friends.
Her faith and family always came first in her life.
Ardyce is survived by her children, Susan Holte Aalgaard (Bruce), and Gregory Holte (Pamela); 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ames; son, Peter; daughter-in-law, Susan; great-grandson, Cody; parents, Herman and Gina Evje; in-laws, Stanley and Emma Holte; brother, Jack Evje, and sister, Hazel.
Celebration of Life Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Augustana Lutheran Church, Halstad, MN.
Visitation: 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Halstad with a prayer service to begin at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
Inurnment: Augustana Lutheran Cemetery, Halstad, MN.
