BLIZZARD WARNING ISSUED FOR CENTRAL AND NORTHERN RED RIVER VALLEY

The National Weather Service in Grand Forks, North Dakota, has issued a Blizzard Warning for portions of the central and northern Red River Valley until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 13.
The warning includes the Minnesota cities of Crookston, East Grand Forks, Ada, Twin Valley, Halstad, Warren, Stephen, and Argyle. It also includes the North Dakota cities of Cavalier, Walhalla, Drayton, Grafton, Park River, Grand Forks, Mayville, Hillsboro, Hatton, and Portland.

…BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Whiteout conditions are expected in open country. Additional snow accumulations of up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

* WHERE…Portions of the central and northern Red River Valley.

* WHEN…Until 6 PM CST this evening.

* IMPACTS…Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce the visibility. The worst conditions will be in open country. The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Conditions in sheltered areas and cities may be considerably better.

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.
