Brady Ohman beat Wyatt Hanson on the 18th hole of the championship match to win the Ernotte Hiller Labor Day golf tournament at Minakwa Golf Course in Crookston.
Ohman was down one going into the final three holes and he won the 16th and 17th hole to take a one hole lead going into the final hole. Hanson had a great second shot that hit the greeen on the 18th hole, but Ohman countered with a great chip to get within inches of the hole and was able to hold on to win the championship. Ohman was playing in the tournament for the first time. He is a 2012 Grand Forks Red River high school graduate where he competed in the North Dakota State High School tournament and placed 8th individually and was an all-EDC pick his junior and senior year. In college, he played one year at North Central University where he placed third in the conference championship. He transferred to the University of North Dakota and played his final three seasons of eligibility at UND.
Hanson, the son of Corky and Marilee, is a 2013 graduate of Crookston High School where he was a three-sport athlete while competing in golf, football, and wrestling. Wyatt continued his golfing career at St. Cloud State. He played four years for the Huskies and was named to the All-NSIC Academic team and averaged around 79 strokes per round in his career. He just moved back to Crookston this summer.
