The City of Crookston Development, Policy & Review Committee will meet Tuesday, September 22 from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The committee will be reviewing applications for the CARES Act Small Business Grants. If needed, the committee will meet again on Wednesday, September 23 from beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Highland Elementary School has had a power outage and the district has been notified power will be out for some time. The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting 937 new cases of COVID-19 and four deaths. Two of the newly reported cases were in Polk County, which has now had 275 cases since the pandemic began. The new positives were found in 16,938 completed tests for a positive rate of 5.5 percent. Updated September 21, 2020
A number of local students have received scholarships that were announced Monday morning. Scholarships were awarded by the Northland Community & Technical College Foundation and through the Minnesota Workforce Development Scholarship created by the Minnesota Legislature. On Sunday, September 20, at about 8:02 p.m. an Officer with the Grand Forks Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a tan Ford Escape, ND/605-AXY for reckless driving in the 1000 block of North 51st St. The vehicle fled the area and a pursuit was initiated by the officer. The pursuit lasted several minutes
