CHLOE BOLL ADVANCES TO STATE IN THE 50 AND100-YARD FREESTYLE

The Crookston/Fosston/Bagley Seal Girls swim team competed in the Section 8A Swimming and Diving meet at Detroit Lakes, and Crookston’s Chloe Boll finished second place in the 100-yard freestyle to advance to state and she also will advance in the 50-yard freestyle after finishing third place. The top two in each event advance to state, but Chloe will be going with a third place finish because her time was within the automatic state qualifying time.

Chloe swam her fastest time of the year in the 100-yard freestyle in the prelims on Friday to advance to the finals on Saturday. After cutting 2.3 seconds off her previous best time on Friday, Chloe had another personal best in the finals after cutting another half of a second in the finals to finish second place with a time of 55.09 seconds to advance to the Minnesota State Girls Swimming and Diving meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center next week.

Boll had another personal best time in the 50-yard freestyle and finished third place with a time of 25.01 seconds, which was .23 of a second behind second place. Boll’s time was her best time of the year and was .33 seconds better than her previous best time. While initially it looked like Boll didn’t advance to state in the race, that quickly changed when the time became official because it was better than the Minnesota State Swim meet automatic qualifying time of 25.08 and she will advance in two events. The state qualifying time state entry is a rare accomplishment and reinforces how impressive her performance was today.

Chloe was on the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished fifth place after cutting over 11 seconds off their best time of the year over the two days. The relay team of Chloe Boll, Allison Carlin, Lillian Nelson, and Haidyn Friborg cut off almost five seconds from the prelims to the finals and finished with a time of 4:02.84. Boll’s split was the fastest time at 57.03 seconds.

Boll was also on the sixth-place 200-yard freestyle relay team. The team was the same as the 400-yard freestyle relay, with Chloe Boll, Allison Carlin, Lillian Nelson, and Haidyn Friborg cutting over two seconds off their best time of the year with a new best time of 1:48.73. Chloe had the fastest time, with a time of 25.12.
